Milwaukee’s lakefront is one of the most iconic, entertaining, and family-friendly parts of the vast extent of the county. With local Milwaukee staples like Northpoint Custard and the lakefront Colectivo, there is no shortage of good food close to the lake. Of course, Northpoint sits right between the beautiful Lincoln Memorial Drive and Bradford Beach.
Bradford Beach is well known in Southeast Milwaukee as the best place to be on sunny, warm summer days for a fun game of volleyball, a walk across the sand, or a picnic on the rocks that look out over the water.
For a little more fun, head just a fraction of a mile down Lincoln Memorial to the Yacht Club and breakwater. If you want a further out view of the lake with lots of beautiful boats in sight, the breakwater is a great place to stop.
Just a little further down the road is the famous Milwaukee Art Museum. Its huge, majestic wings rise and fall in just under four minutes. Browsing the artwork inside and appreciating the ornate architecture are almost as enjoyable as the sweeping views of the lake the building offers as well.
The Henry Maier Festival Park, which hosts Summerfest, the world’s largest annual music festival, is just a rocks throw away from the art museum. During the summer, other festivals, such as German Fest, Italian Fest, Irish Fest, smaller individual concerts, and many more are held on the grounds as well. And, of course, enjoy the abundance of beer available at all of these events while looking out over beautiful Lake Michigan.
