Overview
Known for its unique recreation opportunities and award-winning school district, Slinger is a lively village of over 5,000 residents. Located in Washington County, Slinger is bordered by Hartford to the west and by Polk to the north, east, and south. Proximity to Interstate 41 and State Highway 60 lead to easy access to surrounding areas, including downtown Milwaukee, located a 35-mile drive southeast.
Prior to 1921, the village was named “Schleisingerville” after Baruch Schleisinger Weil, who founded the area and eventually became a State Senator. The village turned into a center for goods and trade after the Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad arrived in the mid 1850s. At Fireman’s Annex Park, there is a beach, a pond, an ice skating rink, and a sledding hill, perfect for family fun.
