Lannon

Overview

The inviting village of Lannon, known for its strong sense of community and its outdoor recreation, is located in Waukesha County. Thanks to proximity to Interstate 41, the drive to downtown Milwaukee is just 30 minutes. Lannon is bordered by Sussex to the west and Menomonee Falls to the north, east, and south.

Lannon was mainly settled by immigrants, but the first true settlers were Isaac Howard and William Lannon. The settlement expanded in both population and size, thanks to the famous Lannon stone from the many quarries in the area. Today, there are just over 1100 residents living on the almost 2.5 square miles that make up Lannon.

Recreation 

Outdoor recreation is a large part of the village. Menomonee Park is located on the border of Lannon and boasts 464 acres of forest, marshes, fields, and wetlands to be explored. What was once a quarry in the late 1800s is now a 16-acre lake, great for boating and fishing. Hikers and cross-country skiers can take advantage of the many trails throughout the park. There are also campgrounds in the park, perfect for a family camping trip. The 16-mile long Bugline Recreation Trail runs from Menomonee Falls to the Town of Merton on the former Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad. This crushed limestone trail crosses right through Lannon. The village is home to the Land O’ Lakes Baseball League, which was started in 1922.
