About Fredonia
Rural charm meets new development in this small village in Ozaukee County. Fredonia, located in between the Milwaukee River and Highway 57, is positioned 30 miles north of Milwaukee and 20 miles southwest of Sheboygan. Random Lake borders it to the north, while Saukville neighbors it to the south.
Formerly known as Stoney Creek, the land was donated to the Milwaukee and Northern Railway Corporation in the late 1800s. Later on, Fredonia was chosen as the village’s named because it means “free gifts.” Today, there is an industrial park in Fredonia as well as other businesses. Buildings dating back to the 1800s give the village charm, while new home developments contribute to its modern feel.
Rolling hills are a common sight in Fredonia. There are many outdoor attractions in and near the village as well. At Waubedonia Park, located along the Milwaukee River, there are baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts. Harrington Beach State Park—a wildlife preserve where residents can hike, swim, bike, fish, and explore—is just a few miles east.
