About Butler
A wonderful blend of old and new is found in the quaint village of Butler. Located in Waukesha County, just west of Interstate 41, Butler is home to nearly 1,900 residents. Menomonee Falls neighbors Butler to the north, while both Wauwatosa and Brookfield border Butler to the south.
In 1909, land in the area of Butler was bought to build New Butler railroad yards. At the time, this was one of the most expensive Midwest railway projects. By 1911, the railroad was fully functioning, and families began developing a settlement near the tracks called New Butler. Fifteen years later, the name was shortened to Butler, and growth of the village continued, thanks to proximity to the railways. Today, Butler is a thriving village that is proud of its history. There are a variety of businesses located here, ranging from industrial to retail. Molded Rubber and Plastic and Western States Envelope are both major companies that have headquarters in Butler.
Residents have plenty to do in and around Butler. There are many local restaurants to choose from, including the Butler Inn and Arriba Mexican Restaurant & Lounge. Frontier Park, the main park in Butler, is located along the Menomonee River. Fishing, biking, and hiking are all common activities here, in addition to many sports. Lake Michigan is only 10 miles east of the village and Downtown Milwaukee is 10 miles southeast.
Butler also has a wonderful roller rink called Skateland for kids and adults! Take your family or friends, grab some roller blades, and have a rollin' great time!
