About Kewaskum
For a small town, Kewaskum has a lot to keep you and your family entertained! The Milwaukee river runs blissfully through this little village, creating fantastic vistas all over and lots of picnic location choices. The sparkling river is nicely complemented by the rolling farmlands that make up much of the non-residential areas of Kewaskum.
Some historical facts: the village was named “Kewaskum” after a chief of the Potawatomi tribe of the same name. The name means “turning on his tracks,” which, in the context of the village, could also describe the horseshoe shape of the Milwaukee river in Kewaskum. The village is also referred to as the Gateway to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, as it is located at the base of the forest.
Small town fun is at its peak in Kewaskum! There are a bunch of great restaurants, like Call of the Wild Bar and Grill, the Limping Coyote Mexican restaurant, The Great Outdoors Supper Club, and Bootleggerz Saloon! Historic downtown Kewaskum offers these and other restaurants, as well as some fun shopping. If natural fun is more your speed, the Milwaukee river has lots of beautiful scenery and the Eisenbahn Trail offers lots of great hiking! Sunburst Ski and Tubing Hill offers an abundance of winter fun, with ski hills ranging from beginner to expert and a tubing hill for those who don’t feel up to skiing. Kewaskum also has a fantastic Christmas Parade every December that brings out residents of all ages.
