Bay View: Milwaukee’s Little Secret

A neighborhood nestled just south of downtown with a population of nearly 18,000, Bay View is one of Milwaukee’s hottest communities.

The homes in this neighborhood have been selling in minutes here for the last few years. Named for its beautiful views of Lake Michigan, the community is vibrant and eclectic and known for its thriving arts and music scene. Small, locally owned businesses, bars, and restaurants are a hallmark of this area.

Bay View is considered the hipster hotspot of Milwaukee. Filled with unique bars, craft breweries, and eateries, there’s no shortage of unique local businesses that attract crowds.

For down-to-earth comfort food, check out Hot Head Fried Chicken and Crafty Cow, two attached restaurants serving southern-themed chicken dishes and craft beer and burgers, respectively.

And don’t forget Honeypie. Not only can you get a great slice of pie but also a meal that makes you think of mom. If you’re in need of a little more sophistication, Sabrosa Cafe and Gallery provides stunning artwork, a cozy atmosphere, and live piano every night.

Tenuta’s arguably serves the best Italian food the city has to offer.  Odd Duck draws people from all over Southeast Wisconsin with its fresh menu and great cocktails.

Need dinner after 10 p.m.? Goodkind has your back with a creative menu that’s offered until 1 a.m.

Groups such as the Lions Club, Arts Guild, Garden and Yard Society, and the Bay View Neighborhood Association play a critical role in strengthening this special community. Parks are important in the neighborhood and include South Shore Park, home of the South Shore Yacht Club and marina where sailing and boating abounds, a swimming beach, sports fields, and hiking trails. Humboldt Park, also found in Bay View, is one of Milwaukee’s oldest parks and features fishing lagoons, ice rinks, a beer garden, and the famous “Chill on the Hill,” a series of live concerts all summer long.

Looking for a fun way to spend a day or a home in a hot Milwaukee neighborhood? Put Bay View at the top of your list.
