Milwaukee’s Top 5 Best Dog-Friendly Condo Buildings

Man’s Best Friend is probably our most important roommate, and whether you own a home or a condominium, having a place for Fido (or Fifi) is important. Powers Realty Group’s most frequently asked question when we begin condo shopping for our Buyers is “where is the best condo for Skippy?” So Skippy…this one is for you.

Here are Milwaukee’s best condominium buildings for you and your dog:

1. Cudahy Towers

The Cudahy in Juneau Town features a private in-house, pet-friendly park area called “The Park.” You can take your dog down to potty in the comfort of your robe. “The Park” is a large grassy area the size of two city lots complete with poop bags. And if you choose to venture outdoors, there is easy access to Bradford Beach and Milwaukee’s lakefront. Just a short drive to a popular doggy day care from this location makes The Cudahy one of the most convenient condo-living experiences for dog owners. They generally allow up to two small dogs. One drawback is most units do not have balconies, making “The Park” indispensable.

2. Landmark on the Lake

Landmark on the Lake on Milwaukee’s East Side near Lake Michigan has a fenced-in dog run for Fido directly outside the building. This is the most unique feature we found for condo buildings in this price tier. They normally allow up to two dogs with a weight restriction of 75 pounds for each dog. Landmark has easy access to Bradford Beach through the pedestrian bridge with access to the park. Landmark, as with most condo buildings, restricts certain breeds such as pit bulls and Rottweilers. The balconies here can be quite small and not pet friendly. This building’s residents are a mix of home owners and renters.

3. University Club Tower

Your dog would be treated like royalty at University Club Towers, the largest residential building in Wisconsin. Like The Cudahy, this East Town gem has a dog park within the building located on Level 3, and it’s the size of two city lots. The park is very private and above ground level to allow for residents’ privacy. The University Club Tower doorman can provide access to your unit for your dog walker, groomer, and doggy day care provider. Only the best will do for residents here. University Club Tower does have strict pet guidelines and will not allow restricted breeds into the building.

4. The Breakwater

Stunning views abound at The Breakwater, which is situated north of downtown and just south of the East Side near Lake Michigan. The Breakwater allows up to two dogs and doesn’t have any height restrictions; however, the weight restriction is 75 pounds (for each dog). Resident dogs are registered with building management, including a picture. This is a very useful and cool feature, especially in the event your dog would become lost. All units at The Breakwater come with an oversized deck surrounded by glass walls. Most decks have water and electric. These nice-sized decks make for easy to access to potty pads for Fido or just a nice outdoor resting spot. The Breakwater is located directly across from one of Milwaukee’s nicest city dog parks.

5. The Point on the River

The Point on the River’s (POR) location makes it an ideal building in the Third Ward if you have a dog.  Located where the Milwaukee River meets Menomonee River, there is easy access to dog-friendly Triangle Park, located on the corner of Seeboth Street and First. Like The Breakwater, POR registers all pets in case they get lost or need assistance. Many of the local restaurants and stores are becoming quite accustomed to having people bring their dogs in with them. In this great, walkable part of Milwaukee, you get easy access to the lakefront and some of Milwaukee’s best shopping in the Third and Fifth Wards.

Our dogs are like our children. Having a comfortable, safe place for them is central to our happiness, wherever we choose to live. Milwaukee is making that easier and easier with easy access to great dog parks, dog runs, dog day care (and overnight) facilities, dog walkers, and groomers.

Before purchasing a condo, however, carefully read all condo documents, including all

guidelines. You only have five business days to rescind your offer (if you object to any conditions) according to the Wisconsin State Condominium Offer to Purchase in the case you were to discover something that wouldn’t work for you or your pet. So, it’s best to be aware of all restrictions and guidelines prior to purchase. Happy Condo Shopping and give us a call if you need help with your Condo Home Search!
