Every year, for the last 5 years, Suzanne Powers has guest lectured for the School of Business' Real Estate School at Marquette University. "It is one of my favorite give backs to the community," says Powers. It is a small part of the Real Estate School's emphasis. For two one hour sessions we take the students on adventure into the world of residential real estate sales and expose them to the residential side of the business.

The commercial real estate students join us for 2 hours on two separate days. We head out on a field trip to see one extraordinary residential property in Milwaukee. We meet at the property, discuss the property's history, architecture, design, and location attributes. The students ask questions in detail to develop their own value analysis on the property we evaluate.

The students are then asked to develop a market analysis on the value of the property and then present their findings. They have to give examples of how they came about to their value on the property taking into consideration land values, property assessments, comparable sales, and market conditions. We explore for two days the world of residential valuations and take the students out of commercial evaluation exposing them to a different perspective.
