About Cedarburg
Known for its rich history and small-town charm, Cedarburg is a picturesque city located in Ozaukee County. The first settler in area bought land on the banks of Cedar Creek from the government in 1842. William Ludwig Groth built his cabin here and named it “Cedarburg,” meaning “castle of cedars.” Two years later, the city was officially named Cedarburg. Originally, the Cedarburg Grist Mill, the Cedarburg Woolen Mill, and the Cedarburg Electric Light Commission made up the economy of the community. Many of these original buildings are still standing and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the most common industries for Cedarburg residents include manufacturing and management.

Cedar Creek runs through the city, providing canoeing, kayaking, and fishing opportunities. Cedarburg is known for its unique community events, especially the festivals that take place year round.
